SonoCheck – Stress free pregnancy check
Big Dutchman wins Gold Medal for SonoCheck at EuroTier 2010 innovation contest.
Every two years the exhibitors of EuroTier are encouraged to submit their new developments to be evaluated by an impartial and international commission of experts appointed by the German Agricultural Society (DLG). Based on strict criteria, the commission evaluates the entries and selects the most promising “new concepts” or “substantial improvements”.
Thus from 200 entries for EuroTier 2010, the jury selected 21 winners to receive the much appreciated Gold and Silver Innovation Awards. Big Dutchman entered several new developments this year and is proud to be awarded with one of three much sought-after Gold Medals for “SonoCheck”.
SonoCheck – for automatic pregnancy checking !
SonoCheck is a complete new development for automatic pregnancy checking of sows in group housing – thus reducing the stress of ultrasound scanning to a minimum.
The technology was developed especially for the Big Dutchman ESF system CallMatic and can be mounted onto the feeding station.
Every sow that enters the station is automatically scanned with an ultrasound scanner while she is eating. This means reducing stress for both the sow and for the service personnel.
A pregnant sow enters the CallMatic feeding station to eat and - while busy eating, is inconspicuously tested for pregnancy – all without stress.
The entire pregnancy check only takes 15 seconds, made possible by the animal-friendly compressed-air procedure.

The ultrasound scans are recorded on video and then automatically analyzed by a special software.
If the diagnosos is not positive, the farmer can cross examine the video on his computer monitor.
